Technology and NCATE/NCTE Standards

From what I can see listed in the standards I will have my work cut out for me. Learning about technology and then teaching what I have learned, frankly, it scares the daylights out of me. In today's world, the students seem to be way ahead of us and we seem to be way behind.

Barb-
I can only imagine how difficult it might be to try and play "catch up" in the technological world. I've grown up with all of this technology and I still have so much to learn. Don't get down on yourself - we will all be learning together and will all need support at one time or another. I'm just happy that we are required to take this course, because it has really opened my eyes to everyting I don't know! Before, I thought I was pretty good with computers. Now, I see that there are so many opportunities to use computers to enhance our future students' learning through the technology available today. I'm excited about this class because I can already see the future benefits to us all.

Hey Barb-
I know you seem scared about the prospect of teaching and working with kids in an environment that may be uncomfortable...but i think it is less threatening than we think. the kids can also help us learn, so we can have a reciprocated relationship with them. plus, we'll have plenty of time to get on the ball with this stuff...keep your head up! :)
